The psychoanalytic perspective incorporates two significant ideas, the part played by past personal history in the creation of current personal problems and the role played by personality processes within a person that a person is not normally aware of. The psychoanalytic view of personality and how it functions will be presented along with helpful insights from psychoanalytic therapy.
