The Black Forest Percussion Group was looking for a visual equivalent for their 10th performance, Drumming, Steve Reichs longest composition. The piece with a meter of 12/8 combines different percussion instruments which with a constant rhythm induce suspense by phasing and by changing timbre. With the live projection during the performance, we tried to mirror the tone, the buildup of the motifs and particularly the phasing, which through shifting grids let the beholder discover new patterns. Out of those patterns, we produced a series of posters. SUAN also designed the poster and postcard for the performance.
