Copywriting: New concepts for fixed rate card product

One of the biggest challenges of writing copy for Capital One was generating new ideas for the fixed APR credit card. We were pursuing the "for life" strategy, but needed a fresh approach. This piece relied heavily on direct mail tactics. There was an "engagement device" on the outer envelope (the sticker over the window) and in the letter (the faux card affixed to the top that peeked through the window once the sticker was pulled off). The faux card also had more of a purpose than intrigue -- it served as a "quick response card" that could be removed for later reference. I helped brainstorm the entire strategy, and wrote the copy for the whole piece. This package was a big winner, and was recognized by Inside Direct Mail.
