I was commisioned by a local digital magazine of Samara, "Drugoi Gorod" (Another City) to create a series of infographics depicting the facts and stories about the main city symbols.
The whole initiative derives from the fact that Samara will become one of the host-cities of FIFA World Cup-2018 and my clients fell the need to create welocming and bright visualisation of our local history and the things our city feels proud of - both for the citizens and for the guests of the city.
Thus, among these images are:
- the Goat (from Samara's coat of arms)
- the Volga river (on which Samara is based on)
- the Monument of Victory (which stands on the main city square)
- the Rocket (which was the one to be used for the first man's launch to space)
For each infographics I selected it's own unique style based on the visual code of the symbol, and, mixing historical images, texts, a bit of cliparts and my own illustrations, came up with this.
