rockite interplay

Spatial relationships emerge from studies of the Paul Klee 'Untitled' painting. An interplay between positive, negative, and double negative space creates a sense of movement. The void moves through, around, above, and below the solid volume of cast rockite. The solid reacts to the movement of the void as it creates opportunities for different spatial occupation and acceleration. The interplay of the rockite model informs the design of an inhabitable space of exchange and reflection. This pavilion is organized around a circulation path which creates layers of privacy as one moves through the space of exchange and into the two private spaces of reflection + total seclusion.
