travel 2058 / mezcla de barcelona

In 2058, Barcelona will echo fragmented memories of the past and absorb new cultures, languages, people, and visions for the future. Today, an increasing amount of immigrants are moving to Barcelona from Morocco and South America. Today, the demand for childcare is greater than ever. In 50 years, the city will need more public spaces for immigrants and Catalonians alike; space for the opportunity to experience diversity. The mezcla de barcelona intertwines a childcare center, a public library, a study lounge, and a community kitchen into one public space. Translucent surfaces connect the public plaza above with the program below. An overall concept of overlapping, projecting, and intertwining drives the mezcla de barcelona.
