The Raintree umbrella is an umbrella that is sensitive to the weather. Coated with thermochrmic paint, the umbrella is able to change colours according to the temperature of the environment.
Rain trees are one of the most common tree seen in Singapore. The rain tree leaves spreads widely during a sunny day, while on a rainy day, the leaves folds together to conserve energy. When using the umbrella on a sunny day, the graphics of the leaves would appear wide spread and the base would be white in colour. On a rainy day, the leaves would appear folded, with a dull blue base.By having the colour change and print change, it recreates the environment of one standing under a rain tree in Singapore.
