This was a fun brief as we could play with the idea of creating a character range of toothbrushes for kids aged 4 to 12 not just the new design of the toothbrush itself. When I create designs I always have minimal and environmental considerations in the back of my mind. So after throwing out a few designs that didn't meet the criteria, I landed on this one. An electric toothbrush that not only featured a character that kids would enjoy but also an ergonomic and more sustainable solution to fight change with growing minds. The rubber ball is a soft easy grip that helps with holding the toothbrush as the child develops the fine motor skills that we gain over time. The toothbrush itself being detachable from the rubber ball means the character can be changed as their likes and popular characters change. Simply meaning you don't throw away a perfectly good toothbrush because SpongeBob is no longer the favourite. Resulting in fewer electric toothbrushes in landfill in the name of changing tastes.
The last point is that the electric toothbrush itself is the same basic design for all Adult electric toothbrushes and will give the kids an immediate link from their familiar child's toothbrush to an Adult toothbrush later in life. Can you say ''brand loyalty''...
