This was a design project for Cockatoo Islands Souvenir mug. My design idea came from Cockatoo Islands time in history as a prison. In buying a piece of memorabilia i.e. a souvenir mug from the island gift shop, I wanted to remind people of what Cockatoo Island was before its current industrial use.
The slogan ''Escape from Cockatoo Island'' is a mix of historic fun and the old idea of having a coffee break as a means to get away and escape your work for a while.
The shackle design fits nicely into the idea & ads a very minimal package design with reduced area and wasted paper/cardboard that you find with other packaging. The inside features an old panoramic photograph of cockatoo island and gives a short timeline of the islands history to refresh visitors memories.
