58th TDC Show at drupa
Exhibition Design
Exhibition Design
Main concept and realisation of the exhibition for the world premiere of the 58th show of the Type Directors Club New York on drupa trade fair Duesseldorf, Germany.
TDC's keynote says "Promoting excellence in typography for over 65 years." Since drupa is all about paper and printing units whereas the TDC is all about typography the main aim was to find something in common. If you get back to the roots of typography you'll find yourself in the age of Gutenberg and metal types. In the time of composing the metal types by hand the printer had to be the typographer as well. To reunite excellent typography with the modern printing business I chose to use well-tried shapes for both the printer and the typographer.
I created this exhibition design in collaboration with fellow students who completed the basic concept with a grandstand, arrows above the entrances and the exhibition poster.
This design project has been created during the graphic design course 'TDC - drupa' of Professor and TDC member Gertrud Nolte in winter semester 2011/12 at University of Applied Sciences Würzburg.
