ONE KOREA

Korea is the last remaining country in the world to have barbed-wire fence in between same ethnicity. We believe at some point they will reunite by any means, and when this happens, some practical support will be necessary.
From this we questioned: What about visually branding ONE Korea, presuming the ideal context? The intention is not to discuss about political circumstances but to help dreaming bright future.

Hypothesis
Together again. Finally.

Process
Extracting representative visual elements.

The Stripe
This scene of the Joint Security Area with interlocking red and blue stripes depict the will and effort of reconciliation between two different sides. It sure is not the easiest thing, but needs time and effort to understand each other's gap for half century living apart.

The Symbol
The Korean alphabet 'ㅎ' stands for Korea/Hanguk/한국, Korean-race/Hanminjok/한민족, Korean-alphabet/Hangul/한글, Korean-costume/Hanbok/한복, and also other Korean assets. With this letter, we tried to create a symbol that can represent one united Korea and moreover to become a visual symbol of Korea as we easily associate a bold cross with Swiss.

The Elements
We inherited the 4 colors from Korean flag - both South and North use white, blue, red - but slightly tuned the tones to describe better the soft transition. The color WHITE represents peace and purity, BLUE/RED, yin and yang which is negative and positive cosmic forces. The color BLACK is used to represent the four elements (heaven/fire/water/earth).

Visit Korea Poster
2022 Visit One Korea Year posters posted in Germany, the former unified country. It says,
It has been one year since Korea became the last country to be unified. This year, we are open to everyone who wants to experience what we’ve gone through and where we are standing at the moment. We have reputation for being generally agile and dynamic, yet we still need time to get along together. We will not promise any kind of ideal unified country in the dreams, but would like to encourage the world to step on our land and to listen, feel the ongoing transition. Please don’t hesitate. We welcome you, the world.
