Klausner
Set of asymmetrical speakers made from cement and oak.
Klausner was intended to be a conversational piece. The name of the speaker set comes from Roald Dahl’s short story, “The Sound Machine”; Klausner being the protagonist; a man obsessed with sound.

Symmetrical speakers are common, which is why I worked to create a set of asymmetrical speakers. I also took into consideration how the backs of speakers were often unsightly, and I moulded the back of my speakers to become more 3-dimensional. The faceted back has in turn become one of the key features of my speakers.

My material choice was cement and oak because I wanted to infuse both industrial and natural elements into my work. The aforementioned materials have great textures; Cement has an unfinished look which I took a liking for, and oak has interesting wood grains and a particular scent I found appealing.
