BRIEF.
Layout two graphic design essays. For ‘White Space’, use a type-only layout. For ‘Designing Design’, graphics may be employed. Communicate the essence or an aspect of the article through the layout.
EXECUTION.
White Space: Used empty space to reflect the article. Also played with the title’s type, with the ‘I’ and ‘A’ giving way to space.
Designing Design: Created large, black shapes which echoed the publication’s title, ‘Chunder’, and which reflected the essay’s strongly expressed opinion.
THOUGHTS.
I love layouts and hope to pursue a career in editorial design. Through this project, however, I discovered how little I know about layouts and that I have much to learn! At first, it was a bit dampening to the spirit, but if I push myself to explore this area, it can only go uphill from here.
