Since this poster is advertising a design competition, I chose to incorporate vectors into the poster design.

 

At the top of the hierarchical scale is the name of the organization, AIGA. It is presented vertically and horizontally, connected with vectors. This is the first thing that catches the viewer's eye. As they follow the lines, they are pulled down to the pop of color in the bottom left-hand corner. This is where the secondary information is located, informing the viewer of the deadline.

 

Since the actually word "deadline" is pulled off to the right, it forces the viewer's eye in that direction, guiding them to the competition details. This includes entry fees, how to enter, eligibility, and a website where they can obtain additional information about the competition.

This poster is advertising the same competition hosted by AIGA. In this design, I was inspired by The Great Gatsby and the color combination of gold and black used in the film. I chose to go with a bold, stand out look for this poster that utilized the negative space effectively.
