Loft in Caracas
This 113m2 apartment is a three level unit, located in northeastern Caracas in a dynamic urban area. It is in a building raised in 1967 designed by Alejandro Pietri, with massive concrete structural walls and many different types of apartments.
In this renovation, mortar and plaster were removed from some walls in order to expose the concrete texture of the structural walls and bring into the unit more of the brutalist modernist style of the building. This style is combined with some industrial finishes like epoxy and cement flooring, and contrasts with more polished and warm materials, and also playful details.
Milky glass sliding doors allow natural light to reach all areas, and hide inside the interior walls when open. The two bathrooms and the kitchen were completely renovated and enlarged. Electrical, voice and data, gas, and water nets were updated, and original windows were replaced for noise reduction ones.
