Barnet Tv Essay

 

The task given was to create a 10-15 second ident for Barnet Tv which had to incorporate various categories to display the aim of Barnet Tv and to explain what they company entails.

I researched in to already existing idents, for example I looked at E4 and BBC’s existing idents and noticed that both were very simple yet very memorable, which made me realise that mine would have to be simple and memorable. It was interesting to see how these idents have progressed over the years. In order to effectively obtain research, I wrote an essay and a PowerPoint.

I did some research in to the borough of Barnet and discovered many places that could be incorporated in to the ident I was going to create. After researching I took many screen shots to try and convey my point across. I put these screen shots and information in a PowerPoint presentation and presented it to clients from Barnet Tv. After having many different ideas, including one which came very close to being my final product, I chose one and was extremely happy with it.

The ident I was intending to create for Barnet Tv, was first of all, a satellite dish with ‘Barnet Tv’ written on it, then it would have zoomed out and towards planet Earth in to many specific areas for each category that Barnet Tv have included on their website. I chose places like Barnet Football Ground as they are well known and easy to link to the category. Finally the ident would finish with it zooming back in to space and on to the satellite dish with the logo ‘Barnet Tv’. 

If I had created the ident it would have been created using Final Cut Pro and the images would have been taken from Google Earth/Maps. I strongly believe that my ident could have been the chosen product but it turned out that it was not.

In terms of my presentation, I think I could have done it better as I was very nervous and skimmed through it very quickly. Since then I have been practicing my presentation skills and have improved a lot.

In conclusion to this I have learnt a lot from this specific project and have made a contact with a Barnet Tv client.
