The Ames Fold n' Store is a folding hose-reel cart that stacks flat on a pallet for shipping and stores flat in the user's home. The design features, including the concentric ribs, are built around the hinge, and many elements, like the hose guide/handle, serve multiple purposes. Special attention was paid to proportions, alignment, and form in both the open and closed positions.
This project was completed during my role as Lead Designer at Proteus Design. John Schaffeld was the Design Director and Paul Metaxatos was the Design Manager overseeing the project. Part Engineering and translation to SolidWorks was completed by Adam Reed-Erickson who was lead by the Engineering Director, John Brotz. The designs and assets are property of Proteus Design.
