Burning Giraffes and Telephones Rearranged

For Tidying up Art, we had to choose an artwork by a famous artist and rearrange his work in a new, cleaner fashion.  Once an artwork was chosen, research about the artwork had to be conducted to figure out the meaning behind the artist’s work.  The purpose was to rearrange his art and still keep the same message behind the artist’s work.  Using Photoshop, we had to use the crop tool to crop each image and then fill in the void areas left behind to create a solid background for each object to be placed.
I chose Salvador Dali’s painting “Burning Giraffes and Telephones”.  He painted this during times of war and turmoil to show the destruction and lost connections that it had caused.  As a result, I cropped out each image in pieces to show the destruction war creates and stacked them above one other.  By adding shadows I was able to enhance the illusionistic feel of the objects floating above the canvas. I kept the background’s look of being lonesome and desolate.  The dark clouds were then extended to cover up the sky.  Doing this maintains a dreary feeling when looking at the new, cleaned up version of his work.
