SOLARIS - CMS, eCommerce and Social

The main product lines, retailer locator, latest company blog post and product registration are front and center with multiple channels for customer contact and engagement.
SolarisMed.com

Solaris is a medical garment manufacturer and wholesaler that specializes in custom and standard sized therapeutic garments for lymphedema, venous disease, venous insufficiency, and chronic or acute edema.

Prior to my involvement, Solaris had a static website and product catalog with a locator for Solaris retailers that were in need of a complete overhaul.
I built the SolarisMed.com webspace from the ground up on the Joomla CMS in close cooperation with Solaris' marketing and management team from late 2010 to mid-2011. Subsequent improvements, host migration, maintenance, security and support services have been provided by New Local Media since that time.

The primary software applications used for SolarisMed.com are Joomla, Magento eCommerce, and Wordpress which are all integrated with the CMS. Social functions built into the CMS serve as a "walled garden" for Solaris retailers within a large private area that includes a storefront, training, and customer service area. Informational content and interactive testing is available there as well. A store locator was built into the public frontend and as part of the CMS.
The front page is dominated by a series of slides controlled by the CMS. Each slide is linked to specific content. Despite being so highly composed of images, all the readable text (including each slide's message) is matched with semantically valid markup visible to search engines.
Product pages went through several design iterations. Once Solaris' marketing staff were comfortable with the CMS and had a crash course in HTML/CSS, they had total control and freedom to modify and update content pages at will. It only took one major training session and a lot of hands-on collaboration to get them up to speed and designing content on their own.
The store locator provides directions and even street views. Thousands of locations can be generated easily by importing them in a spreadsheet. Changes to the listings can be made on the application backend.
Second iteration of the store locator, using Googl Maps API v3. (2013)
This smart AJAX contact form doesn't get spam, even without the mathguard. Custom contact forms like this are generated and designed easily on the backend.
Another customer form for product registration. Input fields can require very specific information.
The company blog draws visitors and comments.
A mobile device view of the company blog.
A mobile device view of the main site.
A simple process for registering new users who will be able to work their way up to different levels of access privileges.
Professional peer networking and customer service area.
Complex custom fields and attributes for products in the store.
