Art Alliance is a website project helping indigenous handicraft artists and workshops in the Hualien and Taitung areas promote and showcase their artwork.

In order to help indigenous handicraft artists and workshops in the Hualien and Taitung areas promote and showcase their artwork via the internet, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) has launched the "Entrepreneurship in the Cyber-Age for Disadvantaged Women and Youth” Project (the project) in partnership with The Alliance Cultural Foundation, an organization with years of experience of working in eastern Taiwan. With “Creating Jobs and Starting Business for Residents in Remote Villages Project” as the core concept, the Alliance has carried out the project by providing internet related training, and has built the Art Alliance website with the hope that the internet's vast influence will be able to introduce Taiwan’s indigenous artwork and its fledgling micro- businesses to the world.

The project, which is part of the U.S. State Department’s continuous diplomatic efforts, provides opportunities for young people, indigenous groups, residents of remote areas, and/or disadvantaged groups to develop economically while realizing their dreams. This program was first introduced to Hualien and Taitung by AIT in late 2012. In addition to globally promoting the beauty of Hualien and Taitung’s indigenous arts and crafts, then the project website was redesigned in spring 2015, in order to showcase the impressive cultural and creative power of the Hualien and Taitung areas, and thereby encourage the public to appreciate the charm of indigenous artwork.
