Due to the fact that Eastern Taiwan has never been developed on a large scale, it has maintained it’s natural beauty and abundant aborigine culture. The appeal of a slower paced lifestyle, an interest in environmental protection, and curiosity about aboriginal culture are attracting visitors to the Huatung area. The Alliance Cultural Foundation (ACF) is working to develop and shape the tourism industry in the area, in an effort not only to provide economic stimulus, but also to ensure Huatung region’s cultural and environmental sustainability.

 

The Alliance Cultural Foundation has supported corporates, schools and locals thrive in their homeland. In addition and perhaps most importantly, they have focused on developing strategies to create jobs and opportunities in the tribal villages, so that families and aboriginal communities can remain together rather than having to leave their villages to find work. The goal is to helping the aboriginal people to re-discover and cultivate their tribal identities, art, and music; to attract visitors to the villages and, in turn, build the village economies and pride.
