For this project we had to use one standard 2x4 (no more, no less) to create a sculpture that relates to the 2x4 in some way.
I started off by cutting my 2x4 up into roughly 250 wooden dowels and sanding them down to create interesting, branch like shapes.
I then started to create my structure by gluing and securing the dowels in a haphazard pattern around another 2x4.
I slowly created a structure that was 8 feet long (standard 2x4 length) before removing the internal 2x4.
For the finished product, I presented the piece hanging from the ceiling.
Inside of the piece, the negative space of a 2x4 was created.
