The Moving House (Laka Competition'15)

In my childhood I was strongly influenced by the Slavic fairy tale about Baba Yaga, who lives in the hut. When I grew up I  wanted to implement this idea of this chicken-legged  house into reality. Moreover, the fact of a big quantity of  natural disasters which carry away thousands of lives because of  lack of universal means for salvation  makes my intention more strong and add to this House extra purposes. I realized that existent architecture does not protect enough of  such catastrophic events as floods and volcanic eruptions. I feel that nowadays architecture stays on the way of future changes. This science has become  more transdisciplinary: it includes such spheres as robotics and using of renewable resources. I believe that the implementation of the Moving House will change  the direction of architecture from a static object to a moving one and it will save thousands of lives.

The Moving House is a part of a usual private house and usually it functions as an energy station which provides a house with independence from the centralized facility system with its own access to renewable resources.

The Moving House consists of free important parts. The first part is mechanical legs, which  connect to  artificial intellect of the House and get energy from renewable resources which provide their uninterrupted work. The second part is the engine room which  receives energy  from internal and external systems as sun and wind energy. Additionally, it can get a bio fuel through recycling in the bio waste system. Moreover, the House has own accumulator  which saves overabundance of energy and allows to use it in critical situations. Beside these, it  has the satellite receiver, which provides a permanent access to the Internet and to navigation systems.  It is possible to get water  from precipitation and  from sources of fresh water such as lakes and rivers. The last part of the Moving House is the main body. Its area depends on a quantity of family members. There is  two-levels space: kitchen and bathroom  on the first and two bedrooms on the second level.

Thanks to the warning system and the satellite receiver, when an alarm of the future catastrophe is appeared, the House, through artificial intellect, is turning to the second phase of work. It starts to accumulate needed energy for going out to safe distance. After all family members are ready  and important belongings and purveyance are inside the House, it starts to go in the third phase. At the expense of hydraulic lift all systems become above the ground and undocking of  the Moving House is happens.

One must admit that existence of mechanical legs in such situations as future volcanic eruption or  flood will give a significant  advantage  for surviving of family because of people's panic reaction which creates huge traffic jams.

In conclusion, the Moving House will be the  unique example of reactive architecture  for surviving  of  people's lives in the context of almost every nature disaster.
