The course about photography is intriguing, as a photographer is required to understand theories of the basics, such as slow shutter speed, fast shutter speed, rules of third, exposure, aperture and the value of ISO. These are the photos that I have taken for this photography course.

Project Title Visual Diary – College Life

Title of Photo: Smile

Exposure Information ISO: 4000

Aperture: 5.6

Shutter Speed:1/8s

Critical Writing: The concept of this image is to show the expression of a smile to others. I wanted to take portrait photos which shows happiness and joy. So I found one of my TOA classmates, who goes by the name Esther. She is a joyful person who always smiles and has a bubbly personality. So, I asked her for permission, to be my model for this title. From this angle,It shows how gleeful Esther is. Hence, the message I wanted to convey is to be happy during all times, and not to be too stressed about life in general.Throughout the shooting process, I felt that the room was a little too dark for taking photographs, so I decided to use two handphones light to lighten up the mood and brightness in the room.
Title of Photo: Joy of Pool

Exposure Information ISO:100

Aperture: 5.6

Shutter Speed:1/5s

Critical Writing: The concept behind this image is to show how desperate students are, to have and cherish leisure activities in TOA Campus. I once visited my friend's college and saw that their campus was facilitated with pool tables for student to play. This image swallows the depth of the field, the focus of this photo lies on the main object, which is the white ball. It is placed at the front, and the rest of the coloured balls behind the main object is not clear. With the contrast from the back to the front, this shows the uniqueness of the depth involved. Throughout the experiment, it is quite hard to focus the front white ball, requiring the need to keep adjusting the focus of the lens and taking shots from all directions to find out the best angle to capture the distinctiveness of the image.

Title of Photo: Road To The One Academy

Exposure Information ISO:100

Aperture: 18.0

Shutter Speed: 30s

Critical Writing: My concept of this image is to show the light rays of the cars on the road. I wanted to show that this is the road I pass by everyday when heading to my college, and also when returning home. By numerous times of experience, I think that 30s works the best, and the aperture which is adjusted to 18.0 with the slow shutter speed to capture the light ray of the cars. While taking this kind of photo, I realised that I needed a tripod to take this photo because It is very difficult to hold the camera for 30s. If my hands slightly shake during the 30s, it will produce an uneven light ray which makes the photo shaky. Hence, I used a tripod to get the best shot of light rays. Another issue was that the street lamps might have given out lens flare, because of the brightness of the lamp. So, the best time is when the sky turn completely black.
