FIJI is a typeface that was developed as part of Don Adleta's Letterform Design Class at Ohio University. The class begins with hand-painted letterforms that would ultimately influence the style and characteristics of the typeface. After fully rendering the painted letterform, it could then be scanned and translated. Letterform design forces intamacy of the creator and the positive negative relationship. It is not just simply designing a letter, but more so creating a fluid system of symbolic communication. It is essential to remain consistent in order for the typeface to speak the same unique language.
