This project tries to tell the story of the good old winged friend, "the sparrow". Gubbi, in Kannada.

The House Sparrows, which were once common visitors and residents in households, have become a rare sight these days.

These plump little fellows bring back memories of flying around the house with their rather subtle chirp, picking on food crumbs for breakfast and building their cozy homes in our backyards and verandas.

These birds were not just great pollinators, but they also shared a very comfortable and happy relationship with humans.

Since the advent of urbanization and its effects like the radiations caused by mobile phones, vehicular pollution, increased number of high rise, sleek apartment complexes and malls the sparrows have left the cities and are on the verge of extinction. Urbanization has left the bird with no choice, but to migrate.

The artworks are not just an attempt at telling the stories of the bird within human dwellings and its proximity with humans, but also to enliven them for our children.
