Stage Bra Costume Design and Construction
I was commissioned to design and construct a piece that would go under Veronica Jade's existing costume and enhance her bust line (see below image for original costume).
Materials: brown upholstry fabric, ivory scalloped lace, green/brown/ivory twisted cording
A bit of padding was added to a store-bought bra, and it was relined. The cording and lace were stitched together, and then to the edge of the cups. The cups were then covered with the upholstry fabric. To fit the cups, but not lose the design in the fabric, the pieces were gathered in the center front, as that gathering would be covered by the bodice of her costume.
I also added strips of brown tooled vinyl to the existing costume to carry the brown color through the whole piece.
