E-MOTION // the emotional boxes

 
 
 The objective of the multi-emotional boxes, is the implementation of
an innovative "synesthetic system" for the creation of an "experiential tourism":
a new way to live and visit the touristic circuit of a City.
The user is transformed into an "actor", someone who is actively involved
into this  journey of discovery of a certain place.
The user is invited to touch, hear, be inebriated, taste
and see the hidden secrets,traditions,charecteristics,
and details of a territory, by getting in contact with
different "key materials" and
using all his senses to discover them.

But what is E-motion?
  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 

 Is an interactive platform that will be able to reveal
the intrinsic beauty of an area. Its structural components are:
 
- an APP-lication;
 
- a signage system placed in the several
points of touristic interest around the city; 
 
- and, finally, an interactive installation made of
multimaterial boxes, comprising a series of QR Code
for "bonus contents" (Video or interactive
activities specially designed).

This is the first prototype of the project ,which
was created for "Città della Pieve", an
ancient city located in the "green heart"
of Italy, between Umbria and Tuscany.
The citizens has believed in the project,
and it is now the first city to implement
the new platform in its own territory,
demonstrating its great potential.

The video explores the concept of "creativity":
|| CREATIVITA' in italian ||
It plays on an anagram
(CREATIVITA' = TI CREA VITA || it brings you to life).
Creativity is seen as an inner movement,
a light-pulse, a scream in the silence.  
The video has been shooted in the ancient theater of the city,
to promote its shows and its beauties:
 in fact, it contains a tapestry
 made by the famous painter "Il Perugino".

The video shows ancient photos of the city
and the main events that left a sign in its history.
Città della Pieve, is a medieval village,
this is why I chose to use an "M" as a symbol, with a Gothic font.
It represents a sort of "time machine", which,
with its gears, recalls those days.

  " PURITY "

 The citizens use to cultivate lots of
varieties of flowers to use their pigments
for a holy event called "Infiorata".
During that days they cover all
the streets of the city with
floral drawings as a
symbol of purity
in honour of Saint Luigi.

An unconventional "colour palette"
made by the various natural elements
that compose the landascapes
around Città della Pieve.
These short clips captured all
the unperceivable details behind
the silent life of Nature.

This box is "sound-sensitive".
By opening and closing the drawer,
the spheres with different sizes and textures,
will meet and "talk" to each other,  
creating different "voices"

As well as a community
is made up of different people
 with different personalities,
the same way
the soundtrack of the video
is composed by 3 different characters.

They express three different emotions

 
(1. indifference|| 2. arrogance || 3. harmony)

telling the story and the
creation phases of a community :

 
- 1| The "sounds-characters" are
initially divided,
 
- 2| there is a first encounter
made of fights,

 
- 3| the final achievement
of the harmony between all
the elements. 

 
All the sounds are made without
musical instruments,
with objects
and body percussions.

Saffron is the typical product
of the City. The video is
a "visual poem"
made of sounds and
colours, that shows the details
of this amazing spice.

THE CENTRAL BOX

The central box
is a sort of totem with a
double function:
 it guides the tourist with its 
"how to use" instructions,
and it's made to collect
the feedbacks from the visitors.

    This is just a first application
    of "E-motion". But the project is a
      universal platform
    and it can be adapted to
    any city or place
    to higlight all
      its interesting aspects.
