Social Justice Poster: Bangladeshi Tragedy

Social Justice Poster
This poster focuses on the duplicity of slavery with regards to sweatshops and consumerism. The photo is from the recent (2013) collapse of a Bangladeshi textile factory that resulted in over 1,000 deaths. The statement, “I am a slave to fashion” could literally mean the workers were slaves to fashion, but the poster also alludes to the fact that consumers are slaves to fashion if these preventable tragedies are ignored.  Barbara Kruger’s posters usually rely on irony to make a point, which I relied on as well.
