Valiant Studios | Independent Branding Concept

For an independent project, I wanted to work on something simple and fun, and so decided to create an identity around a made-up design studio I chose to name VALIANT. Paying homage to the original intent of the word "Valiant", I chose to create a logo around the idea of a knight's sigil, though far less complicated and showy as many standards were, back during the Middle Ages.

I chose to use simple illustrative elements, using lines and geometric shapes to accomplish what I wanted. Initially I only had the two swords crossed, which is intended to appear as a "V" (for Valiant). Later on, I included the shield behind, then changed the colors to contrast one another.
Still something of a work in progress, this is a closer-to-final version of the Valiant logo. I chose to go with a greyish blue color (Pantone 432 C) for the main typographic elements, as well as the swords and inner rim of the shield. The red provides a good contrast within the logo, and further elements of the design. The red "S" atop the swords within the shield represents both the word "Studio" in the logotype, fills the negative space at the top, and provides an "emblem" for the knight's shield.
Further developing the studio's identity, a set of stationary was created, which further defines Valiant's clean, sophisticated design scheme.
