Antonio Junior (Miami)'s profile

Miami-Dade County Homelessness Statistics

Florida Conservation Inc. founder Antonio Junior supports organizations which help homeless families both nationwide and in the greater Miami area. As local funding has gone down in the Miami area to address the issue of homelessness, philanthropists like Antonio Junior have moved to address the situation.

The Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust takes a semi-annual census of the homeless population of the area, as required by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Between 2014 and 2015, the rate of homelessness remained mostly stable, but areas in which homeless residents live have changed.

Miami has 4,152 sheltered and unsheltered homeless people as of 2015, compared to 4,156 at the same time in 2014. Approximately 200 of those people, however, have shifted from living in shelters to living on the streets of the city. While some of this change may be attributed to a temperate year, funding cuts have also made it more difficult to provide shelter.
