The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

In designing a poster for Radford's School of Dance and Theatre's production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the challenge became the creation of something unique that would separate this design from the ones previously associated with the book and movie. I went for a classic storybook illustration style, using black and white ink drawing done in photoshop using a pressure sensitive tablet and custom brush. I created a border with areas to include iconic characters or objects from the story, which nicely framed a large umbrella illustration. Lucy Pevensie and Mr. Tumnus's playful legs can be seen beneath the umbrella, referencing the afternoon walk in the snow that began the entire tale.

The final poster design was adjusted to sepia tones to create an older, parchment paper feeling.
The program cover, to be given out at the performance, is still in black and white.

Won Silver, 2014 Regional Student ADDY Awards, poster design.

Selected for production out of 21 total peer design entries, and was printed and displayed around Radford's campus and community to advertise for the event.
