Explorer's Refugee (2013)

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.”

George Bernard Shaw

Thanks for your wisdom, George! In this project was requested a refugee for three investigators (ghostbusters!) with such specific requirements:

- LIGHT. It shouldn’t weight more than an average car.
- CARRIABLE BY AN HELICOPTER.
- Able to STAND EXTREME CLIMATES.

After facing multiple references and researching technology and materials we came to a result that could have satisfied Scooby Doo and his squad themselves. The shelter is based on the direct transposition of how nature protects its seeds; creating a heart and a shell separately. Its inspiration are an egg and a nut.

The heart of the refugee is on its interior, where the space has been highly optimized in order to introduce every element required for comfort and habitability. On its exterior, we can find a protective pneumatic peel able to adapt itself to every ground and rigid not to collapse.

As in an egg, the germen stays protected by a transparent fluid and an exterior shell with a certain elasticity, able to absorb eventual impacts. The habitable capsule resembles to a nut, in whose shell do exist every nutrient and element necessary for life.
