Jimmy Smirch
Jimmy Smirch is a fictional character created for sound designer Paul Maaswinkel, under whose name he released an EP — Elevator Daylight. http://www.jimmysmirch.com/
Paul described the key characteristics, along with some drafts of the songs he was working on. From these elements I set out to create the visualization of Jimmy — a dark, brooding figure with a serious attitude.

The title for his second track, Elevator Daylight, proved to be another inspiring element, conjuring the image of Jimmy staring down an elevator shaft, cigarette in his mouth. The insides of a building are revealed here. No polished surfaces, shiny knobs and finishing strips, but pipelines, metal plating, rust and crumbling concrete are found here.
Hand written type
Besides character design, web design was part of the assignment as well. Through hand-written type Jimmy's character could be reflected in the layout of the website. This hand-written approach proved to be labourious, but rewarding, and worked as a binding element for the entire website.
The final product
With everything put together all the pieces fell into place and a total look was created.
