The field of study “Personology” served as inspiration for these pieces. According to Naomi Tickle, this is a field of study that depends on Physiognomy and the facial features of a person to predict his/her personality and behavior. It is a system based on "face reading" where there is a correlation between the physical appearance and the behavior of a human being.
Edward Vincent Jones, who started taking notes on people’s behavioral patterns, developed this discipline in the 1930’s. Edward became convinced that he was able to predict the behavior of anyone by just observing his or her physical features. He claimed to have compiled a list of 68 different facial features.
