Brief: Produce a printed broadsheet/poster that explores the importance of research In relation to Graphic Design and your own working practice.

Ths project was to answer the guestmn What is research, whilst focusing on a certain discipline of graphic despn, such as illustraton, which Is the one i chose. We had to research and analyze resarch itself and the research methods, make a self analysis; the ways In which i work, think and evolve as a creative practitioner, models of working practice, the relahonshp between research and graphic practice and the graphic design disaplines. When researching the graphic design disaplines, this was the main part of research which would determine which disiapline i would focus on for this project. Al of this research would help us later on when creating side B.
Whilst gathering research for the project, we had to have a sketchbook which we could document our findings and ideas in. For this we were taught how to make our own sketchbooks by using a coptic book-binding technique. I thoroughly enjoyed making this sketchbook, and much prefer to make my own in future rather than buying one from a shop as i was fully in control of it. I could choose my own card type, stock, amount of pages, and colour. Hand made ones have such character and uniqueness to them which makes them more interesting.

When I had finished side A, i then had to decide what i was going to do for side B. I decided to draw up a fineliner drawing similar to a zentangle and splashed watercolour on top with free flowing drips, which tied in nicely with my illustration research and images of my own work on side B. I chose this as it is a particular interest of mine.
