LADFEST - Latin American Design Festival 2016
O que vem a mente quando você pensa na cultura peruana?
Sempre que nos deparamos com uma proposta gráfica voltada a aspectos culturais, temos um desafio que foge do nosso dia a dia criativo. E a proposta do LADFEST, festival de design que acontece em Lima, no Peru, foi essa. Partimos de uma pesquisa de referências visuais sobre aspectos culturais que são clichês, mas pensado formas diferentes de abordagem. Usamos o clichê como referência, mas não enquanto forma e cores. Optamos por um caminho voltado as texturas de elementos da natureza bem como os aspectos cósmicos da civilização Inca.

Whenever we have a graphic proposal aimed to cultural aspects, we have a challenge that take us off a little of our day to day creative routine. The question that LADFEST, an design festival that takes place in Lima, Peru, was this: What comes to mind when you think of Peru? We started by doing a research of visuals of these cultural aspects that are clichés, but thinking in different ways to accomplish this approach. We used the clichés only as references, but not in forms or colors. We focused on bringing the textures of natural elements and the cosmic aspect of the Inca civilization.
A ideia da composição é inspirada em Machu Picchu e nos totens Incas, também relacionamos às máscaras da festa da Virgen Del Carmen, popularmente conhecida como Festival de Paucartambo. Destacamos os detalhes e texturas que atribuem ao olhar outra dimensão à forma. Por se tratar de um pôster que vai estar impresso e exposto juntamente com uma série de outros pôsteres de outros estúdios e artistas, exploramos a possibilidade de aplicar a profundidade em camadas e a riqueza de detalhes. Optamos pela troca das cores sempre explosivas e presentes nas festas populares, vestimentas e afins, por tons de cinza, preto e branco buscando enfatizar esse lado místico e misterioso.

The idea for the composition was inspired by Machu Picchu and Inca Totems, as well as to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel party masks used in a popular event known as The Festival of Paucartambo. We highlighted the details and textures that attach the look into a further dimension of the shape. It is a poster that will be printed and exposed along with a number of other posters from other studios and artists, with the possibility to explore the depth of layers and the wealth of details.
We also opted for exchanging the explosive colors present in these popular festivities, clothing and so on, by shades of gray, black and white with the idea of emphasizing this mystical and mysterious side.
