BIOSHAP3D is a personal 3D project about experimenting different organic shapes & life-forms through biological references.
Finally this is a set of 10 creations that give us an abstract & alien style.

/// DETAILS & PROCESS INFORMATIONS

I created all these 3d shapes with 3ds Max + V-ray render, then I did the postwork with Photoshop to enhance colors / Brightness / Contrast effects with a Depth of field. I worked a lot with the 3ds max Particle Flow system to generate many different kind of particles and random splines around the shapes.
Each creation is originally 4K (4096px * 4096px).

Also, I used a bunch of free scripts & plugins for 3ds Max to create specific effects around :

• PF Spliner : http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/pf-spliner
• Grow-Ivy : http://www.guruware.at/main/ivy/index.html
• SHObject : http://www.pxfactory.eu/plug/SHObject/SHObject.html
• BlurBeta Tools : http://maxplugins.de/max2016.php?search=BlurBeta&sort=Author
From left to right, just few examples of wireframe renders and Z-Depth passes used to generate the DOF effect directly in Photoshop with the Lens Blur tool as an alpha channel.
Example of a PFlow schema with basic Events & Forces in the scene. I use to work with the 'Shape Instance' tool to have my own type of particles instead of the default ones from PFlow.
Here, it is an example of a VRay Fast Sub Surface Scattering (SSS) material. I did basic settings with procedural maps for the scatter radius & Bump mapping effects.
