The main idea behind this design is to convey a message asking people to
follow traffic rules- rules like obeying lane traffic and to follow speed limits.
This design was inspired from funny quotes that one could find in Ladakh
talking about traffic rules and giving awareness to follow traffic rules in a very
catchy way. Also, elephants have always been my favorite; from the very
beginning I wanted to work with elephants.
This design follows the culture of idealized elements of life, which includes
animals and human beings. This design also follows the theme of India, for
anyone the immediate idea of India is lotuses, elephants and peacocks;
hence this reflects the Indian theme. It also reflects the Bollywood culture as
the design is inspired from one of the Bollywood movies- 3 Idiots where in a
song called “Aal izz well” is composed. I used the caption “Aal is well” to tell
people that “Aal izz well” when one drives slowly or follows traffic rules. The
design also reflects the culture of Hyderabad due to the caption- “Abey hallu
jaao, jaan bachao” which is written in a colloquial Hyderabadi form asking
people to go slow so that they could save many lives.
Techniques used –
I have used two techniques –
1.Sticker Printing-This is a simple technique where in they print any kind of
design digitally. The advantage with sticker printing is that any design, which
also includes gradients and textures, can also be printed easily. This method
can also further be made “jatak” by putting onto the sticker a layer of the
radium sheet, which brings out the reflective feel during the nights when the
vehicles headlight falls onto the vehicle which have the sticker on. This sticker
was printed on a PCP sheet-a fiber like sheet, which are generally used for
number plates.

2.Painting-

This technique is the technique used on trucks and autos where in they use paints like acrylic or oil to do the finishing. They have a distinct feel for this and a particular way in which they define the typography. This design was for auto-rickshaws and bikes. So I got a material similar to that of an auto-rickshaws yellow sheet called the vinyl sheet and the painting was done on that.
