Some of the work I get to do at the City of Calgary is very visual! Infographics, or info illustrations (as I like to call them) was something every client here wanted. I did this project for the Energy Management sector of the City. They wanted an infographic to show what was happening, where cost was going, and what was going on through out the corporation.
This year they wanted something less corporate looking, and more visually appealing. The concept I wanted to do for this project was based on a map. I chose the colours, layout, and the iconography very carefully to make sure the infographic in-line with their brand guidelines. Since EM had a lot of content, I had to think of a way to make it visually stimulating, but I had to make sure I didn't lose or confuse anyone. The purpose is to make sure it was clear and concise as possible. A lot of the information the client has was very mathmatical and a lot of numbers were involved. The client and I had to go back and forth quite a bit to make sure every graph, bar, and icon accruately represented the information, which was a challenge. At the end, they were really happy with what they received.
