"Morpheus Woodburn"

This piece of Sandman fanart was done in my favorite style of canon artwork, though I altered it and added some other aspects of Morpheus and his story in the background. When I did this piece I hadn't read the whole series, but it is now one of my favorite series and written by one of my favorite writers of all time. Like all of my pyrography pieces, this was hand drawn and hand burned.

Neil Gaiman's series gave a new name to the myth of the Morpheus demi-god and solidified him in the minds of a new generation of comic readers. He remains a character of great mystery and depth and instills in us the quality of Dream. As the Endless, Morpheus far surpassed his demi-god and other comic origins, and has become an allegory for power itself. This piece still remains on my wall, a reminder of the wonder that we can never fully grasp, and the life of those concepts which are eternal.
