This brief was the first time I combined softwares by using Illustrator to create the images and InDesign for the layout and text. I needed to create a book about a topic of my choice. I chose to make an alphabet book for babies/ toddlers ages 2-5 years.
I drew an object or animal for each letter A-Z in my workbook. After I had scanned these in I placed them into Illustrator and used the pen tool and other shapes to create a more refined version of my drawings. The most difficult part of this brief was to get the images all looking consistent with the weight of strokes and fill styles. I believe this worked well in my final product.
I also spent a lot of time putting together the mock ups of this book as I was finding the cards too thick, or too dangerous for children to use. In the end I used a foam sheet to wrap the cover and create soft corners for the children to be safe with.
