Current international migration flows are affecting all five continents. As a graphic designer I have been commissioned to work on a promotional campaign for the project “Migration”, which should be represented by print products and an object of my choice.

Global migration is a large topic for research and study as it includes a list of positive and negative issues as there are various reasons which force people to move from one place of living to another. My work on the following project has been developed and completed with three concepts as each of them seems to be important and can’t be excluded. All print products are created in a minimalist style as I find it more effective.

The main idea of my work is presented as the flowing motion of migration. Migration occurs as flows of people, races, cultures, genes, traditions and even genes. Due to global migration people of different countries move from one place to another, live in neighborhoods with various communities and by marrying outside of the communities, mix races and genes are developed.  This kind of movement and assimilation was interpreted in my concept. I created a poster, CD and CD cover, and a lamp design on the following idea.

The 2d idea was structured as an image of a leaf divided into two parts. The plant may be compared to a human, as both are living entities. When the plant grows in bad conditions or in an unhealthy environment (a deficit of sunlight, water and vitamins), its color is a light green. In a healthy environment the plant becomes healthy and changes its color to a dark emerald green. Similar things happen to people who live in poverty or even in dangerous environments and then migrate to better and safer places. Both parts of the leaf symbolize a process of movement, which can be compared to the migration movement.
The 3d idea is a drifting iceberg. I wanted to communicate an idea of migration as a huge iceberg, where people’s dream of migration is only a small visible part of the large subject. At the same time, the invisible part which is hidden under water represents the negative issues and problems happening before and after the migration. The poster design was based on this concept.
