Final major project for my Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Studies at Cardiff and Vale College, South Wales. For my final major project, I had to write my own brief, and deliver an outcome. After a visit to New Zealand in 2013 I was captivated by the way in which their marketing strategies appeared to follow and inspire newly arriving visitors to explore and venture their lands. I decided to investigate points of entry and transport hubs in Wales as possible tourism gateways for an inspirational advertising campaign.
Through the design process, I looked at juxtaposing 'gates' with key snapshots of Wales to sell the possibilities exploration might offer and reveal to the consumer. From this project, I produced a number 2D designs, a 3D tangible design outcome and an installation which could be used conjunctively with a iconic image and toured around various transport hubs outside of the welsh borders and beyond.
This work received a distinction, first prize at the Cowbridge Art Society Show, shortlisted by the WJEC and was exhibited at the Wales Milennium Centre.
