KSU Aquaculture Production Technologies Laboratory

KSU Aquaculture Production Technologies Laboratory
Kentucky State University, Frankfort, KY
This project for KSU's acclaimed Aquaculture program was originally to house work with salt-water prawns.  The program was to house large quantities of tanks in a salt water environment with 80% humidity and maintain 85 degree temperatures.  Attached to this space are offices, laboratories, and support spaces.

Finished Laboratory Building from the same angle.
These two images compare the rendering from the design model (that was the basis of the construction drawings and estimate) and the finished product.  For user groups with little experience reading plans, the level of comfort with the proposed design is unprecedented.  What you see is really what you get.
Completed tank room prior to installation of experiment tanks.  The 10,000 gallons supply tanks and the plug-and-play piping system for the experiments can be seen running the full perimeter of the room.
This image, taken several years after construction was completed, shows the ongoing installation and modification of experiments in the tank room.  The constantly changing nature of the space drove the design of the room to allow maximum flexibility in experiment layouts.
