To promote a local bootmaker, I came up with a twist on the Shoemaker's Elves. I created four bootmaker's elves, who are much more interesting than their fairytale counterparts. El Pepe is the fearless leader, Zapato the creative genius, Guano is in charge of quality materials, and Pico is the grunt labor. We created a whole backstory to give them a history and reason for being: creating funky, authentic boots by hand for their lucky host, Heritage Boot, here in Austin. They also harbor an extreme hatred for average footwear.
