Forge: Kiwi Farmer Wellbeing Project

For this project, surrounding wellbeing, my partner and I examined the lives of rural kiwi males. We aimed to strengthen connections in rural communities in order to combat the high rates of depression in this group. In order to design an appropriate and successful solution, we used experience design methods to gain insights about this group. A key insight we made during the initial research phase of this project was that a farmer never has any time off: his farm is life. In response to our research we developed Forge: Community get-togethers sharing rural knowledge and know-how. Forge is an online system which brings rural males together by organising skill sharing events events. The great thing about these events is that because the farmers are sharing and bettering their skills, they can justify taking time away from the farm to attend. We also designed the Forge brand and accompanying collateral which includes a website, brochure, stickers and an AMP Show stand.
