In my opinion this stage of the design process has taken the identity slightly off course and would be a better idea for the implementation of the identity on tshirts and marketing material. I believe a simplier logo will transfer more easily onto different applications and scale more effectively than one with smaller details.
After discussions with the client about the development of the logo, she introduced a new piece of inspiration that she wanted to incorporate into the indentity. This was an image of a person doing a leap of joy at the top of a flight of steps. I set about creating this imagery with the identity and my designs can be seen below.
I was asked to design an identity for a new charity called The Climb. The charity will raise money towards the research into new therapies and drugs to treat secondary breast cancers specifically those treated by Herceptin, a new drug usually only prescribed to breast cancer sufferers after they are diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. However research has lead to the discovery that it can benefit paitients undergoing treatment for primary breast cancer to avoid it returning.

The founder of the charity described the thinking behind the name as follows:

"When you are first diagnosed you do feel you are at the bottom of a mountain and I want to challenge breast cancer sufferers and anyone associate with this illness to climb their own mountain of choice - be that they are a 80 year old survivor and its a small hill locally to them, Kinder Scout or mountain like Ben Nevis, in fact it could be a flight of stairs -  it's doesn't matter what they choose to climb - but their choice represents the freedom that they feel when the treatment has finished and they start to get back to some sort of normal living."

The charity would be in association with the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and therefore one of the design criterias was it must use a similar or same colour palette. I took this into considerations in my initial designs seen below.
The final logo is still to be decided upon but up to this point my preferred is pictured below. I believe it is a good balance of the original Royal Marsden logo and the sister charity that will be The Climb.
