Concept car based on a mix of buggy and roadster.
XSeed is ahybrid concept, designed based on a combination of a roadster and a buggy. Itis powered by a Flex engine and electric thrusters on each wheel. The Flexengine works with gas and ethanol. The electric thrusters are supplied bybattery cells that are charged while the car is in motion or in any poweroutlet.
XSeed is a lightweight sports car ofhigh performance and designed for two passengers. It was designed to offer aunique driving feeling.
XSeed is a proposal for the sportscars market. It stands out by its innovative design, low weight and convenienceby using a four-cylinder engine with 1600cc in combination with an electric engine. This combination generates great fuel savings. One of the main features of thiscar, its low weight, is ensured by aceramic compound in the engine and a tubular structure made of carbonnanotubes. The ceramic engine is lighter than an engine all made of aluminum. Anotherimportant advantage of the ceramic engine is that it requires no lubrication orcooling thanks to the silicon added to the ceramic. The frictional coefficientdrops dramatically so that water and oil pumps, filters, pipes, hoses andradiator become unneeded. As a result, it loses weight and gains space andspeed. The ceramic engine has its main components made of the same material. Thiscomposite has a very low thermal expansion coefficient and it resists extremetemperatures, exceeding metals.
Besides the engine and chassis beinglighter, all car plastic parts are manufactured using the MuCell technologythat reduces the weight of the material in about 25% without a significant lossin strength. This technology is based on the addition of carbon dioxide and /or nitrogen in the plastic injection process.
The external body is made ofcarbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) that results in a weight loss around 15%compared to the same in aluminum. The car has independent suspension in eachwheel. The wheels of 22 inches are made of magnesium alloy.
The electric engine (thrusterslocated on each wheel), running alone or in combination with the flex engineproduces excellent fuel economy. The two engines together produce 225horsepower, making the car go from 0mph to 60mph in 4.5s. Due to the extremelylightweight and strong materials used in the XSeed, it reaches 760kg of overallweight. While driving the car, the batteries that power the electric thrustersare recharged by the regenerative brakes and shock absorbers system, whichrecover energy from brakes and oscillation of the shock absorbers. Thus, theautonomy of the car increases up to 60%.
