This is one of those little projects that just 'grew from nothing'. We spend our weekends in this little garden and while I like studiyng little critters with (and saving them from the hands of) my sons, I can't help but finding plants a little creepy. Of course we all love flowers but up close and if you stare long enough, you will discover the absoluteness in their forms, the many shapes that seem to say the same thing: 'I will survive. I will conquer'. If you stare even longer and if you love Sci-Fi, you will even discover an etherial, outerworldly quality. A brutral beauty.
So my aim was to capture this on location (no plants were harmed; they remained rooted in our garden) and to add portraits of humans appearing vulnerable and exposed to the spreading scrub. “War of the Worlds” without those poor Martians.
